With its backdrop made up of a long cliff coloured in hues of red, copper and gold, and of particular beauty as the afternoon draws to a close, this far-reaching extent of sand covers the kilometres between Olhos de Água and Vilamoura incorporating a number of different beaches.
The stretch known as Falésia (Cliff) or Açoteias (after the nearby tourist resort) Beach is in the central area. Here, with a good standard of access via a tarmac road, the sea is calm and a favourite for all kinds of nautical sports for those seeking something more than the pleasures of sunbathing.
Covering a large area, Salgados Beach contrasts with the other beaches of Albufeira due its diversity of landscape. Here, the backdrop of ochre cliffs gives way to a cordon of golden dunes.
